Run for a Girl Child Education 2025

About the Run

The Islamic University in Uganda – Females’ Campus Kabojja proudly presents the 4th Edition of the “Run for Girl Education” on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm, under the theme “Miles for Smiles: Supporting Girls’ Education.” Launched in 2022, the run responds to the high number of female university dropouts caused by financial and social challenges. It aims to raise awareness and mobilize support for underprivileged girls, ensuring they have access to quality education. Over the years, the initiative has grown in participation and impact, serving both as a fundraiser and a movement for gender equity. Aligned with SDG 4 and SDG 5, the run symbolizes a united commitment to empowering girls through education one mile at a time toward a future where no girl is left behind.

Why the Run Matters

Female student dropout in Uganda remains alarmingly high, with many bright young women forced to abandon their education due to financial constraints. This annual charity run directly addresses this challenge by promoting Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 5 (Gender Equality).

Through community engagement and fundraising, we're creating sustainable solutions to keep girls in school and empower them to reach their full potential.

Objectives

  • Raise UGX 1 Billion Uganda Shillings to provide comprehensive scholarships for 260 underprivileged girls
  • Promote lifelong learning and inclusive education for all genders
  • Engage communities, corporations, and individuals in supporting girls' education
